About Suffolk Branch

Suffolk’s comfortable lifestyle, beauty and history were appreciated by Dickens, Gainsborough, Constable and others. Bordered by an attractive coastline, its major towns of Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft lead to a selection of market towns and unspoilt villages. Unsurprising then that our Branch currently totals almost 1,200 members spread across three geographic Areas (Northern, Southern and Western) with some living outside Suffolk.

We take pride in maintaining the ‘police family’ of retired officers from Suffolk and elsewhere, widows, retired civilian support staff and people who have had a longstanding working relationship with the force.

Addressing our members’ welfare needs and providing social events for all ages and preferences mean that those policing friendships of the past are very much part of our future.

Our social events prove extremely popular and include theatre trips, outings, holidays, quiz nights and lots more. Improvements are underway to improve communication around the Branch with the objective that everyone should fully enjoy their membership.

Information and signposting to appropriate Welfare agencies is supported by our excellent welfare team positioned across the county. Contact the Secretary if you know of any member in need of assistance.

Newsletters, e-mails, WhatsApp and Facebook, provide information about Branch activities, but nothing beats gathering together to reminisce and maintain comradeship. Our Branch and Area Committee meetings are business-like but always enjoyable for the social aspect and sumptuous buffet afterwards.
