July 2026

Bowls Event

1.00pm Sunday 5 July, 2026, at Bishop Road £5 per head.

Come and join us for an entertaining afternoon of bowling with some great prizes. Also a buffet will be
provided all this for just £5.00 per person.
Please beg, borrow or share bowls (woods) for the afternoon as there are now none spare at the club.
Appropriate shoes are required please, for all taking part. Members are asked to respect the green as a
great deal of money has been spent on the surface.etc. If you have no bowls please come along anyway
for a game and we will do our best to sort something out.

Now, I did not know what appropriate shoes are, but here is what it says from a web enquiry:

Key Considerations for Choosing Shoes:
  • Sole Regulations: The sole must be one piece (no separation between heel and toe) and flat from toe to heel. Raised heels or pronounced treads are not allowed as they damage the turf.
  • Common Choices: Many bowlers prefer lightweight trainer-style shoes, such as Skechers GoWalk or Greenz shoes, for comfort, breathable mesh material, and proper traction.
  • Comfort and Support: Shoes should offer good cushioning and support for walking long periods, often featuring shock-absorbing midsoles.
  • Types: Options include traditional white lace-ups for formal matches, and modern trainer styles, available in both mens and ladies models. Ensure the shoes have non-marking soles to maintain the condition of the playing surface.

TO BOOK AND PAY PLEASE SEE THE APRIL/MAY 2026 NEWSLETTER WHERE FULL DETAILS ARE INCLUDED. THIS HAS BEEN SENT TO YOU BY EMAIL, OR CAN BE VIEWED VIA THE PASSWORD PROTECTED PAGE (CLICK HERE) – PAYMENT DETAILS ARE CONFIDENTIAL AND CANNOT BE PUBLISHED TO OPEN TO ALL WEB PAGES AS THIS IS.  IF YOU NEED THE PASSWORD PLEASE EMAIL THE SECRETARY – SEE OUR CONTACTS PAGE FOR THE EMAIL ADDRESS.

His successor is Ian Whitfield.  We wish him every success with the challenging times to come for the Police Service and NARPO.
Our President, Dennis Glynn, received his Lifetime Membership reward.
